Paul Pierce Admits He Wants to Retire in Boston
The 2008 Boston Celtics championship team reunited and had a great time on Kevin Garnett’s Area 21 TNT television show.
Conversations—featuring Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, Kendrick Perkins and Glen “Big Baby” Davis—revolved around recently retired forward Paul Pierce and his remarkable career, as well as stories from their playing days in Boston.
When asked if he would be willing to sign a one-day or ten-day contract to return to Boston and retire a Celtic, “The Truth” responded without hesitation.
“That’s what I wanna do, actually,” Pierce said. “I wanna end my career, saying I ended it as a Celtic. Everybody’s always gonna remember me as a Celtic. When you do something special–winning a championship, you’re always gonna be linked to that. I wanna do a one-day deal and sign with the Celtics.”

Former Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers even joined in on the fun and discussed memories from the championship run later in the segment through the television.
Paul Pierce spent fifteen of his nineteen professional seasons with the Boston Celtics before playing in Brooklyn, Washington, and Los Angeles for the final four years of his career. He was named to ten All-Star teams while a member of the Celtics.
2008 was a special year for the Boston Celtics as they won their first championship in twenty one years, seventeenth total and assembled one of the most dynamic teams in franchise history. Pierce won the NBA Finals MVP during their championship run.
