Paul Pierce And Kendrick Perkins Weigh In On Stephen Curry And LeBron James Teaming Up: “I Wouldn’t Be Surprised”

The Golden State Warriors are 1-5 in their last six games, with their most recent defeat coming at the hands of LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. The team is currently holding the 9th position in the Western Conference, tallying a record of 20 wins and 20 losses.

On ESPN’s ‘The Jump’, a discussion between former Boston Celtics superstar Paul Pierce, former NBA big man Kendrick Perkins, and host Rachel Nichols reflected on how the Warriors should approach the season going forward in the midst of their struggles.

While initially discussing their potential moves ahead of the trade deadline, Kendrick Perkins opened up the idea of the possibility of Stephen Curry and LeBron James teaming up on one team, considering how well they got along during the 2021 NBA All-Star Game.

Paul Pierce, who has a firsthand knowledge of LeBron’s Miami super team, flirted with Perkins’ assertion and stated that he wouldn’t be surprised if that happens. Rachel Nichols, on the other hand, believes that the scenario is unlikely to happen.

Perkins: “With Steph not signing the extension, I think that they should be aggressive, meaning going out there and maybe trading an Andrew Wiggins and getting back a Victor Oladipo to show Steph that we are going to surround you with help and show Steph we are going to get better, not just for this year, but for next year so that he can sign his contract and you can lock Steph in. Because with Steph not signing his contract extension, yes I get it, he’s going to get more money, but it’s no guarantee. And we saw all the joy, we saw the laughter in the All-Star Game between him and LeBron James, chest-bumping and high-fiving. Hey look, I’m telling you right now, I don’t put anything past anyone in the NBA.”

Pierce: “Come on, Perk.”

Perkins: “I’m just saying P, I don’t put nothing past anything happening when it comes down to the NBA.”

Pierce: “Steph to the Lakers?”

Pierce: “Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised. I wouldn’t be surprised either.”

Nichols: “Really? Come on, both of you. I don’t see Steph Curry joining up with LeBron and the Lakers. That does not feel like a real fear to me.”

Pierce: “I don’t know. I don’t know.”
