Quin Snyder Explains Why He Stepped Down As Utah Jazz Head Coach: “They Need A New Voice”

Quin Snyder has parted ways with the Utah Jazz after eight seasons of leading the team. Snyder recently led the Jazz to a 49-33 record in the regular season and an NBA playoffs trip that ended in six games against the Dallas Mavericks in the first-round.

Over Snyder’s tenure with the Jazz, the 55-year old coach put up a 372-264 record and guided the team to six NBA playoffs appearances. The Jazz won 60% of their games under Snyder, making Snyder the second-winningest coach in franchise history.

But the veteran head coach felt like it was enough, and in his own statement, Snyder revealed why he decided to step down from his role with the Jazz.

“I strongly feel they need a new voice to continue to evolve. That’s it. No philosophical differences, no other reason. After eight years, I just feel it is the right time to move onward.”
