Rajon Rondo Says He Hasn’t Declined Yet, Finds Fault In Coaching For Lack Of Production

The Los Angeles Lakers have continued their busy offseason with the addition of veteran NBA point guard Rajon Rondo, who is heading back to the Lakers after a short stint with the Atlanta Hawks and the Los Angeles Clippers last season.

Rondo was a pivotal piece for the Lakers, especially to their championship run during the NBA bubble in 2020. With a chance to win another ring with the Lakers, fans couldn’t be more excited knowing how Rondo worked alongside the likes of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

On the flipside, not everyone is sold with Rondo’s addition to the Lakers. After an underwhelming postseason with the Clippers, averaging 4.2 points and 3.8 assists on a lackluster 34.0% shooting, there’s now more reason for fans to question his level of play at this point of his career.

With that in mind, Rondo, who now appeared in an interview, was asked about his level of play following his letdown in last year’s playoffs. Interestingly, the two-time NBA champion said that his game hasn’t declined yet while seemingly sending a subtle message to his previous coach.

“I don’t think my game’s declined. You’re only as good as your coach believes in you. Going forward this year, I understand where I am in my career, but I believe I can still bring a lot to the game.”
