Ranking The NBA’s Top Four Centers

After a short period of being a minority, underutilized position in the NBA, the centers are beginning to pick up speed. They are becoming more versatile and putting up more points than players in other positions. The evolution of the Centers reaches far higher than their vertical. It has become the new Cool.

We can compare players in the NBA all day long, trying to decide which position is the most important. Observe stats, replay games, assess best betting sites comparison, and look at the success of the team they belong to, but it’s pretty clear that the center position is the most dominant in recent times.

With players like Antetokoumpo and Jokic winning the last four MVP awards, regardless of their size, the forwards and guards have got some reinvention to do if they want to take back the award from these new-age dominant centers.

Here are the rankings for the 2022/2023 season.

Nikola Jokic

The joker is top of this list for obvious reasons.

He’s the reigning MVP and one of the top contenders for MVP this season, according to the Kia Race to the MVP Ladder. Jokic started his NBA career six years ago and has put up unequaled numbers in his short career. He is the only player with 2000 points, 1000 rebounds, and 500 assists in a single season. He could also win MVP for the third time in a row.

Jokic’s passing range is as good as any guard or forward in the league. He puts up highlight reels every other night, making the game even more fun. Stats don’t always tell the truth about the game, but with Jokic, the stats are underwhelming of his quality.

Joel Embiid

For countless years, the 76ers of Philadelphia have been outside, looking inwards at greatness in the NBA. They tried a variety of signings, but none proved as exceptional as Joel Embiid.

Embiid is undoubtedly one the top players in the NBA, talk less of one of the best Centers.

Even though he doesn’t have the individual awards to back his prowess, no NBA lover or player would disregard Embiid’s talents. Standing at a whopping 7ft and weighing 280 pounds, Embiid moves quickly and aggressively. He dominates the paint in defense and offense and makes it look easy.

Joel Embiid could have won the MVP if not for injuries sustained during the previous season, where he averaged over 28 points a game.

Karl Anthony Towns

Towns might be among the more underrated players in the NBA because of his team’s overall performance, especially at high-level games. But let’s remember that he won the vote of the general managers on players they would want to build around.

KAT is not just about the hype. He’s exactly what they say he is — aggressive, intelligent, and talented. He’s the total package of what you want in a center.

Unlike many other Centers, KAT doesn’t just depend on his paint play. He shoots from deep, too. He even participated in a 3-point shooting contest at the all-star games and won. A big man who wins three-point contests speaks volumes—the definition of versatility. To be fair, his defense needs some work, but his overall play makes him a monster center.

Rudy Gobert

Rudy Gobert makes it to this list ahead of Bam Adebayo because of his consistency and the fact that you can rely on him to do his part every game. The Frenchman is the classic center, big, solid, and hella aggressive. Gobert puts up standard numbers and gives his team the advantage in many situations.
