Shaquille O’Neal On Whether LeBron James Has Killer Instinct: “If You Don’t Have Killer Instinct, How You Get 38,000 Points?”

The term “killer instinct” may be one of the most popular terms in basketball conversations, but there’s absolutely no way to measure it, and its definition is constantly changing based on whoever is using it. Some fans associate the term with being clutch while others think it’s about the intangibles.

Over the years, the term has been used to discredit Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. It’s a criticism that has followed him for so long despite proving that he’s one of the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball.

As critics continue to push that LeBron has a lack of killer instinct, Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal now seemingly came to defense of the four-time NBA champion, putting up an eye-opening rebuttal to the killer instinct argument.

“So I have a question for the panel. When he needs to average 16 points this year to pass up Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. So if he passes up Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in points, does that make him the greatest player ever… Because, if you don’t have killer instinct, how you get 38,000 points? I’m just asking.”
