Steve Kerr Revealed His Thoughts On Why Players Are Scoring Higher Than Ever

While Gregg Popovich has sarcastically expressed his anger about most teams not taking defense seriously anymore and the recent point explosions in the NBA, while sarcastically urging the NBA to add a 4-point and 5-point shot, his good friend and fellow NBA head coach Steve Kerr now shared his thoughts on the debate.

While Kerr believes that the skill level and shooting is better than ever before, he also is under the impression that defensive and the defensive foundation has trended down.

“It just feels like the game has gotten a lot faster and more open in recent years. I also think the players today are learning to dribble and shoot from a really early age. The league has gone away from the old days of low post play, it’s now a perimeter game.

What’s lacking, I think, is the foundation; that institutional knowledge that players used to have when they came into the league after a few years of college. Sometimes, the defense isn’t great. Transition defense is at an all-time low.”
