Steven Adams Says He’s Too Stupid To Rebound Like Dennis Rodman Amid His Stellar Offensive Rebounding Season

Steve Adams has been the perfect big for the Memphis Grizzlies, averaging 7.1 points, 10.0 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game on 54.5% shooting from the field. He doesn’t pile up monstrous scoring numbers, but he has been noted for his ability to crash the boards, particularly on the offensive end.

Adams recently became the new single-season offensive rebounds record holder for the Grizzlies franchise, overtaking former Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph. He has also become the fourth player to hold the single-season offensive rebound record for multiple franchises (Memphis Grizzlies and Oklahoma City Thunder).

Amid his stellar offensive rebounding season, Adams was asked whether he has a scientific approach on rebounding like Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman. The 28-year old center responded, saying he’s too stupid to grab rebounds like him.

“You could go into the Dennis Rodman stuff. He had it down to a science, talking about the rotations of the ball and stuff. He’s wild, mate. I’m too stupid for that, mate. I don’t have enough brain cells for that one, brother. I just stand there.”
