Take A Look Inside Russell Westbrook’s ‘Paul George Re-Signing Party’

After the Oklahoma City Thunder were eliminated early in these playoffs, most people thought that this also was the last time we’d see Paul George wearing a Thunder jersey.

Everything was set up for a homecoming to Los Angeles. But after in last year’s offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers were fined $500,000 for tampering with Paul George, they had a pretty cringy free agent pitch to PG.

Last summer, the Lakers were reluctant to trade important assets for a player who would likely sign with them anyway. That’s the risk the Lakers were willing to take in order to keep both of their lottery picks, Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram, from the past two years. It turns out the Lakers played themselves, as Paul George re-signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder to take care of some unfinished business.

“Here they have made a huge risk in trading for me, knowing I have one year on my deal. But I felt I didn’t finish as strong as I could have. Just knowing you left something on the table, even to this point now, it weighs on me.”

“I appreciate Laker nation for wanting me to come back home. I wanted to come here a year ago. Lakers didn’t grab me. I was traded to Oklahoma. That has been a beautiful thing for me.”

George’s Thunder teammate and friend was very happy about George coming back to OKC and threw him a big party. Have a look inside the party!
