Terry Rozier’s Dad Sees Him Play For The First Time Ever After Prison Release

In the absence of Kyrie Irving, Terry Rozier had been an absolutely magificent replacement for the star point guard. The third-year guard undoubtedly has the talent to be a team’s starting point guard.

In these past playoffs, Rozier had been one of the best and most efficient guards. He’s on his way to become a star in this league.

But even though Rozier is now globally known, his father, Terry Sr., had never seen his son play a game of basketball. Not in highschool, not in college and not in the NBA. Until this past Saturday.

You see, Terry Sr. spent 23 of the last 25 years in prison, missing almost every second of junior’s childhood, and every second of his basketball career. He was released this summer and has been working to rekindle his relationship with his son ever since.

The Celtics lost that game, but Rozier started and finished with 17 points. After the game Rozier gave his dad the game-worn jersey and the two posed for a picture which found its way onto Rozier’s Instagram. Rozier Sr. was more than proud and expressed his feelings in an interview with the Boston Globe:

“I’ve been admiring the young man my son has become. He’s just like me in a lot of ways, but he’s also so much different. He’s a better man than I was.”
