With things looking hazy for the Milwaukee Bucks, the idea of a Giannis Antetokounmpo’s potential exit gets talked about more often day by day. Antetokounmpo has not done anything to encourage a potential breakup, but the team’s disappointing playoff run has become the driving force behind such talks.

The Bucks fell short of expectations this 2022-23 playoffs, losing to the eight-seeded Miami Heat team in just six games of their first-round playoff series. Just a couple of days after the team’s season finale, the Bucks have made its first move, firing championship head coach Mike Budenholzer.

From the looks of it, the Bucks remain committed of building a team around Antetokounmo, who still has two years and a player option left in his contract. That being said, that doesn’t stop the New York Knicks from monitoring the possible availability of the 28-year old Bucks superstar.

The Knicks are still well alive in the playoffs, currently trailing their second-round playoff series against the Miami Heat at 1-2. While they have their eyes on the Heat, NBA analyst Brian Windhorst made it known that a part of their attention has already gone towards Antetokounmpo’s future with the Bucks.

“The New York Knicks, for example, they got 97 percent of their attention on the Miami Heat, three percent of their attention on Milwaukee.”

“There is no indication he has given that he wants to leave. But if he doesn’t extend, it’s a major red flag for what’s going on with the organization. He’s going to sit there and watch whether they’re going to sign [Brook] Lopez and [Khris] Middleton and I’m not sure they’re going to be able to do it.”
