The New York Knicks May Target Shai Gilgeous-Alexander After Missing Out On Donovan Mitchell

Last season was disastrous for the New York Knicks. After finishing as the fourth seed in 2021, the Knicks simply didn’t live up to expectations and struggled to string enough wins to make an appearance in the 2022 NBA playoffs.

The Knicks now entered this offseason looking for key figures that could bring them back into playoff contention. Ultimately, they acquired former Dallas Mavericks guard Jalen Brunson who played an instrumental part in Mavericks’ success last season.

But the Knicks felt like they needed more, which is why they joined the hunt for signing three-time All-Star Donovan Mitchell. The Knicks-Mitchell rumors were ramping up this offseason, with several pundits deeming the Knicks as the best landing spot for the 25-year old.

But in a surprising turn of events, the Cavaliers came out of the blue and snatched Mitchell from the Utah Jazz. With the Knicks missing out on Mitchell, a latest report suggests that the Knicks could pivot to Oklahoma City Thunder young star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

“The Knicks will be on the lookout for the next disgruntled player who goes on the trading block with Oklahoma City point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander previously mentioned.”
