Tracy McGrady Says Jayson Tatum Could Potentially Reach Kevin Durant’s Status: “Has The Ability To Win Multiple Championships”

As for their own performances this season, it certainly looks like Jayson Tatum has been the superior overall player compared to Kevin Durant. Both are multifaceted scorers, but Tatum brings more impact on defense and has leveled up his game in the playoffs this year.

But that being said, in terms of all-time status, Tatum has a lot of work to do to step on the same level as Durant. The 33-year old Nets superstar is already one of the greatest players to ever play the game, having two rings, two Finals MVPs, an MVP award, and 11 All-Star appearances to show for it.

Tatum, in his young NBA career, has been off to a fast and impressive start. He’s already in the NBA Finals at age 23, and he seems to be on the right path going forward. While the young Celtics superstar is still a few tiers below Durant, former NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady believes Tatum can catch up to him in the near future.

Per NBC Sports:

“I think he can be really good. We’re talking K.D. status,” McGrady told NBC Sports Washington. “I think the kid has the potential to be that good. He’s already showing glimpses of that in his young NBA career. I think he has the ability to win multiple championships, be an MVP of the NBA. I think he has that ability.”
