Ty Lawson Arrested At Madrid Airport For Assaulting Two Airport Employees, After Failing To Wear Mask While Boarding

If I had told you after the 2013-14 season that Ty Lawson’s career would slip at the age of 29, you would have thought I was crazy.

In that 2013-14 season, Lawson averaged 17.6 points, 8.8 assists and 1.6 steals, while still being a young player. Lawson was the man in Denver—he led the Nuggets to a 57-25 record in 2012-13 and was putting up All-Star-like numbers on a nightly basis.

This lasted until 2015, when off-the-court issues involving the law tackled his impressive career to an all-time low.

Lawson has been dealing with alcohol related problems, had collected multiple DUIs, and had several run ins with police.

The point guard now added a new chapter to his already difficult record with law enforcement, when he was arrested at Madrid’s international airport.

The former NBA star reportedly caused an altercation during a stopover, in which he attacked two ground employees of the Spanish airline, Iberia. Even the Civil Guard had to intervene.

According to Marcawitnesses revealed that Lawson approached the boarding gate without a mask, and when he was ordered to put it on, Lawson stated to become violent and punched one of the ground employees.
