Ty Lue Savagely Responds To Daryl Morey’s Tweet: “Last Time He Tweeted He Cost The NBA A Billion Dollars.”
After this past week’s matchup between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers, Clippers head coach Ty Lue made a comment about Joel Embiid and James Harden’s frequency at the free throw line, that has since gone viral.
“Embiid is number one in the league from the free-throw line and James is number three, you know?” said Lue. “So, I think if you take away their free throws, neither one of those guys would be in the top ten in scoring.
That tells you how much they get to the free-throw line. We just gotta do a good job pulling our hands back and making sure we’re playing not letting them get to the bonus and doing the sweep rules. They are gonna get some calls because of who they are but we just gotta make sure we’re doing our part.”

This was Lue’s full comment about the two Sixers stars. However, when his quote went viral, it was lacking context and only the first part of his statement made its rounds on the world wide web.
This then led to a response by Sixers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey.

Now, Lue was confronted with Morey’s response and had an all-time savage reaction. NBA reported Andrew Greif asked Lue about Daryl Morey’s tweet, and Lue responded:
“Should he really be tweeting anything right now? Last time he tweeted he cost the NBA a billion dollars.”
Asked about Daryl Morey’s tweet about that seemed to take a comment Ty Lue made about Embiid and Harden’s FTs out of context, Ty said:

For a little bit of context; About two and a half years ago, then Houston Rockets General Manager, Daryl Morey tweeted his support for Hong Kong protestors, the NBA faced a major backlash from China. Everything that had to do with the Rockets had basically been deleted in China. Nike stopped selling Rockets products in every fan shop or NBA related website or store in China, and you only found 29 existing NBA teams from then on.
