Video Shows That Anthony Edwards’ Assault Citation Is Pretty Ridiculous

On Tuesday night, the Denver Nuggets beat the Minnesota Timberwolves, and closed the first round series in five games.
After the final buzzer had sounded, Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards rushed off the court, and allegedly hit two female employees with a folding chair he swung in frustration as he headed toward the locker room.
This then led to Edwards actually being cited with third-degree assault. Per USA TODAY:
Edwards was cited with two misdemeanor counts of third-degree assault for “knowingly or recklessly” causing bodily injury, according to Denver police. The All-Star guard allegedly hit two women who were working at the game when he flung the folding chair in a circle while walking off the court to the locker room. Both employees were reported to have suffered injuries that were not serious.
The All-Star is summoned to appear in court on June 9, and if convicted, he could face up to 18 months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Upon seeing footage taken by a fan, all of the allegations sound much harder and way worse than what actually happened. Sure, he grabs the chair and swings it around, but also doesn’t really hit anybody before setting it down again.
Granted, a pretty stupid, yet emotional outburst. Edwards should apologize and pay out, but not be ridiculed or name and shamed.
