Why Andre Iguodala Was A Great Player For The Grizzlies Without Even Playing A Second

Last night the first blockbuster trade of the year took place, when the Memphis Grizzlies agreed to a deal that sent Andre Iguodala to Miami in return for Justise Winslow.

The Grizzlies were able to get rid of a player who didn’t want to be on the team to begin with, and brought in yet another young prospect, to add to their already young core. The future is bright for Memphis.

But while Iggy didn’t play a single minute for the team, he was incredibly valuable for the franchise. The Grizzlies used $17 million in cap space to absorb his contract, and received a first-round pick to take in the former Finals MVP.

Now, they’ve acquired a 23-year old, talented, Justise Winslow. With these trades and the Mike Conley trade, the Memphis Grizzlies’ front office couldn’t have created a better turnaround. Out with the old, in with the new indeed. This team will be exciting to watch for years to come.
