Yogi Ferrell’s Immediate Impact for Dallas

Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James recently vowed his team is in need of a “f***king playmaker” to bring more production to an already stacked reigning champions squad.

On Monday night, Yogi Ferrell—who signed a 10-day contract with the Dallas Mavericks Friday—torched James and the Cleveland in his third NBA game and first career start. Ferrell’s quickness and knack to get the rim allowed him to drop a career-high 19 points while stuffing-the-stat-sheet with five rebounds, four steals, and three assists in 37:37 minutes on the floor, leading Dallas over Cleveland 104-97.

LeBron James must have thought to himself, “damn, that’s the guy we need” while the rookie point guard crushed his team.

Last night, two Yogi Ferrell free-throws allowed the Dallas Mavericks to defeat San Antonio 105-101. Ferrell finished with nine points and seven assists in the win.

Ferrell—out of Indiana university, who went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft and spent time with Brooklyn’s D-League affiliate—made his professional debut in early December with the Brooklyn Nets scoring just two points in the midst of a 10-day contract with the team. He was later waived after almost zero playing time.

Ferrell was signed by Dallas to provide energy off the bench in place of injured point guards Deron Williams and J.J. Barea. Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle made the right move bringing in the 23-year-old kid from Indiana.

Talk about a first impression. Dallas is 2-0 in the Yogi Ferrell era and has led the Mavericks over two of the league’s best teams.
